IOU

⭐⭐⭐⭐

1. IOU by Kristy Marie

SYNOPSIS

It’s official. I, Ainsley James, am crazy. Desperate and crazy. It’s the only explanation as to why I’m nauseous, standing outside Maverick Lexington’s door.

I mean, it’s possible the stories about his deck of playing cards—with the words IOU scrawled across the back—are just rumors of the ruthless quid pro quo deals he barters. But the flutters in my stomach know better. Maverick is as cold as they come. But, I need one of those cards. I NEED to owe Maverick Lexington a favor…

Whatever the terms, I’m willing to pay. Because, at this point, I have nothing left to lose.

BOOK REVIEW

Kristy Marie did such an incredible job creating a light-hearted romance novel during the scary times of a pandemic. This book was exactly what I needed to keep me sane: a weirdly cute and feisty girl trying to be someone she was not and a brooding nerdy boy pretending to be bad, and a funny story of their relationship development.

Those stormy eyes flash with an intensity I’ve never seen from Maverick. At least when he’s not been pissed.

Maverick was such a baby. A panty-melting young man (too mature for his age and too clever for his own good) who carried so much burden on his broad shoulders and did his best to stay on the surface for the sake of people he loved the most. He was multi-layered, with so many secrets and lies to keep his true self hidden behind the carefully structured facade. I absolutely loved how the author was slowly but steadily giving away some bits and pieces of Maverick’s gentle soul for me to discover and cherish till the very end.

I welcome the heat of her body and hold her tight, breaking all my fucking rules today.

Ainsley was so much fun. A quirky and geeky girl, kind and headstrong. She was stronger than she gave herself credit for (considering all the crap she had to go through). I adored her sass, and persistence to give Maverick hell (in a good way) haha.

The build-up and tension between Maverick and Ainsley were straight-up hot. The chemistry was even hotter! I was fascinated by the wit, interlaced with all the emotions and feels. I laughed, I squealed, I teared up, and then I laughed again. To put it simply, a ridiculous smile was a constant on my face.

“My heart can handle you, I promise.”

Overall, the author knew what she was doing with her captivating words and highly entertaining characters. Honestly speaking, I myself wouldn’t mind owing favours to the one and only Maverick Lexington! The swoon-worthy loan shark was the king of favours who always cashed in with all the right moves. Definitely check IOU out!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Kristy Marie is a self-proclaimed reader-enthusiast/author who started her writing journey back in 2009, reading and writing when her daughter was napping. Establishing her place in Corporate America (because something had to pay the bills), writing became her dirty, late-night secret.

The only thing Kristy Marie loves as much as reading and writing is sports. Especially those that require muscles and a nice ass. Her favorite is, and always will be baseball. She’s such a fan, that she even married her small town’s high school’s centerfielder. And now, they live with their three badass kids.
