BOOK REVIEW

Maybe Someday is my most favorite book by Colleen Hoover. Love triangles are usually not my thing, but this one was so unique and artistic that I couldn’t help but keep reading until the big reveal. And then I went full-on sobbing like a baby. And then I finished the book and stayed depressed for the entire week. As per usual, the author’s writing only enhanced this heartbreakingly beautiful and soul-gripping love story that was formed by the compelling notes coming from two bleeding hearts. From the first lines, I was fully immersed in the romance and stayed dedicated until the very last word.

“Having her so close feels as though we’ve created our own personal space and nothing from outside our world can make its way in, and nothing form inside our world can make its way out.”

Ridge and Sydney represented something one can usually find in YA fantasy mostly—fated mates, I guess. The powerful pull between the two characters was agonizingly slow and all-consuming. Nothing in their lives felt so good, yet hurt so achingly bad. Ridge and Sydney hurt so much, and I hurt with them… Emotionally, my heart was all over the place, while theirs were at war with one another. The choices they had to face were impossibly painful and unfairly cruel. But love was ultimately something neither one was willing to part with.

“God, I hate feelings. Or I hate my conscience. The two are constantly at war and I’m not sure which one I’d rather turn off.”

The most important thing one can draw from the book is that you cannot really help who you fall in love with. Just like Ridge did, you can try and deny the feelings that you just know are already there, but eventually, the heart will win and set your brain on fire. And even though I did root for a HEA for Ridge and Sydney right after the very first music session of theirs, Maybe Someday left me genuinely confused about how I felt about the effects of their undeniable connection on other characters. Because I understood the conflict like no other, the responsibility, and the pain… And so, I shed so many tears for Ridge. And for Sydney. And even Maggie. Alright, I’m going to stop here and just say that the book was true perfection. I cannot recommend it enough!

1.5. MAYBE NOT by Colleen Hoover

SYNOPSIS

When Warren has the opportunity to live with a female roommate, he instantly agrees. It could be an exciting change. Or maybe not.

Especially when that roommate is the cold and seemingly calculating Bridgette. Tensions run high and tempers flare as the two can hardly stand to be in the same room together. But Warren has a theory about Bridgette: anyone who can hate with that much passion should also have the capability to love with that much passion. And he wants to be the one to test this theory.

Will Bridgette find it in herself to warm her heart to Warren and finally learn to love? Maybe. Maybe not.
