1. SUDDENLY YOU by Lisa Kleypas

SYNOPSIS

She was unmarried, untouched, and almost thirty, but novelist Amanda Briars wasn’t about to greet her next birthday without making love to a man. When he appeared at her door, she believed he was her gift to herself, hired for one night of passion. Unforgettably handsome, irresistibly virile, he tempted her in ways she never thought possible... but something stopped him from completely fulfilling her dream.

Jack Delvin’s determination to possess Amanda became greater when she discovered his true identity. But gently-bred Amanda craved respectability more than she admitted, while Jack, the cast-off son of a nobleman and London’s most notorious businessman, refused to live by society’s rules. Yet when fate conspired for them to marry, their worlds collided with a passionate force neither had expected... but both soon craved.

BOOK REVIEW

Suddenly You by Lisa Kleypas was absolutely fantastic. My most favourite book by the author to date.

No one had ever said such things to her before. People were intimidated by her self-possession and no-nonsense demeanor. No man would ever dream of calling her adorable, sweet, darling... and certainly, no one had ever made her feel that way.

Amanda Briars was a 30-year-old virginal spinster who dedicated her life to writing novels. Her little ‘problem’ was actually not a problem at all, but she decided to finally get rid of it on her birthday with the help of a complete stranger but the one who actually knew what he was supposed to be doing in a professional sense.

“Good,” he said softly. “Set the world afire. Just let me hand you the matches.”

Jack Devlin was a bastard child of an English nobleman but at the same time, London’s most successful publisher and a notorious rake. Interested in Amanda’s stories, he came to visit the author at her residence but got mistaken for the prostitute Amanda was nervously waiting for. Jack was confused at first but then intelligently realized the situation and got keen on giving her the best birthday present in her life haha. Nothing got too far though, but their encounter was definitely steamy…

“How do I look?” Amanda asked.

Jack shook his head ruefully as he glanced at her. No one could mistake the remaining flush on her cheeks, or the soft sparkle of her eyes, or her lusciously swollen mouth, for anything other than the results of physical passion. “Like you’ve been ravished,” he said flatly.

She astonished him by smiling. “Hurry, please. I want to go inside my house and consult a looking glass. I’ve always wanted to know what a ravished woman looks like.”

Needless to say, things between Amanda and Jack didn’t end that night and escalated rather quickly. After all, he was used to getting what he wanted. And what Jack did want was Amanda in both professional and very personal aspects of his life. The dynamic between the two was remarkable. Their assertiveness and boldness and smartassness only added to the already existing chemistry. And the sex scenes? OMG, Lisa Kleypas killed it with the steam! I’ve never read such kinkiness and sensuality in a historical romance ever before. You, my lovely thirsty bitches, will be pleased indeed.

The development of the relationship didn’t feel rushed. Amanda and Jack were given more than enough time to get to know each other but apparently not enough to trust. Don’t worry though, no stupid misunderstanding will spoil your enjoyment of the book. There was also a quite expected plot twist towards the end that only added to the angst and drama. But again, you won’t be disappointed.

Long story short, I enjoyed Suddenly You tremendously, and so will you!
