The Broken Ring: This Marriage Will Fail Anyway
The Broken Ring: This Marriage Will Fail Anyway is a romance webcomic created by an illustrator Cheong-gwa, and the original story of which is by Chacha Kim. The inspiration behind the story came about when the author was looking up Portuguese folk songs called fado, and there was one about knowing there’s a fate to things that people cannot change, but don’t know why.
“Unfortunately, being a playboy isn’t as fun when your fiancée gives you permission. And doesn’t this mean she’s cheating on him too? Now, Cárcel is determined to change Inés’ mind about him and prove he can be the husband she’s always wanted.”

SYNOPSIS
Inés Valeztena, daughter of a powerful noble family, and Cárcel Escalante, cousin to the crown prince, have been engaged since they were six years old. Their long-delayed marriage has been the talk of high society for years, and although her fiancé is the empire’s most notorious playboy, Inés seems inexplicably content to keep the arrangement. In fact, she encourages him to do whatever he pleases even after their wedding, as long as they maintain order among the nobles.
What the gossips—and Cárcel—don’t know is that Inés has plans for her marriage of obligation, and they have nothing to do with love. But when Cárcel suddenly declares he is ready to reform his rakish ways, marry immediately, and prove to Inés that he is worthy of her true affection, she must keep her wits about her or risk losing everything she’s spent lifetimes of heartache and desperation to obtain.

SYNOPSIS
Wedding bells are ringing, and Inés Valeztena and Cárcel Escalante are finally married. Inés is a shockingly radiant bride, and the nobles who once scorned her now see her in a different light—including Cárcel, who feels unsettled by all the attention on his dazzling new wife. But on the inside, Inés remains determined to ultimately unravel this marriage and gain the freedom she could never obtain in her previous lives.
The newlyweds begin their life together in Calztela, where Cárcel is on military duty. The quaint coastal city may seem like a perfect honeymoon destination, but it also holds haunting memories from Inés’s prior life. As she works to untangle herself from the past and keep her meticulous plans for the future in motion, Inés finds that Cárcel might make things more difficult than she expected.
The plan was perfect. And there was no better match than the prim playboy of the Escalante family.
“After we get married, everything will be different. You will be more free than before our marriage.”
“What about you?”

“I am not going to lay a finger on a woman who is not you, and until you give birth to a child, until you give birth to the next child, and then regardless of any child, I will satisfy you and I will make you satisfy me.”
“…“
“I don’t need such dog-like freedom or privacy that you want to give me so badly. There’s no such thing as that in the first place from the marriages I know of.”
