SYNOPSIS
Every royal has their dirty little secret. His was…me.
It should have been simple. Go to the ball, meet the prince, and secure his patronage for my favorite charity. But beneath the mask, the brooding beast of a man was not at all who I expected. He was dark and intense and eerily quiet. When I left, I could still feel the ghost of his touch branded into my skin. He haunted my dreams, but I never expected to see him again. Then he came for me. And he took me. And I learned that his darkness was a void I never could have conceived. He’s the crown prince of Norway. And, now, I’m his captive.
BOOK REVIEW
A. Zavarelli is one of those authors who writes the most erotic romances ever, and the plot usually doesn’t disappoint either. I still cannot understand how her imagination works, pushing her to create such captivating and soul-gripping anti-heroes. And when the said tortured assholes are in place of prince charming in a modern-day retelling of Cinderella with the author’s signature dark twist on it? Sign me up, please!
Against my better judgment, I’m here. I’m giving him two months of my life to torment me, control me, own me.
Ella was a very tragic version of a damsel in distress, living with guilt over her father’s death and redemption in the form of outrageous servitude existence with her cruel stepmother and psychotic stepsisters. Honestly speaking though, she was frustrating. A pure submissive with no backbone whatsoever and poor excuse of an attempt to escape her awful life. But Ella was kind, with a heart starving for some kind of affection, love… Well, I guess, this quality should have been preserved in a true Cinderella fashion.
His is a high that a chemical can’t give me. A force of nature true to his namesake. He is the God of Thunder.
Thorsen was a cruel prince with hardcore dom inclinations and kinky obsessions and no tolerance of the word ‘NO’. He was sinfully sexy, deliciously gritty, and oh-so-dark and depraved. His selfish decision to kidnap beautiful Ella, blackmail, trap, and keep her at his beck and call were a bit too much for me but irresistibly alluring and mind-blowing at the same time.
The relationship between Ella and Thorsen was very heavily sex-based, and the development was pretty fast-paced, but not too insta-lovey… The chemistry was definitely there. The sex scenes were filthy in a BDSM kind of way (not for everyone, I’d say). Overall, steam steam steam.
SPOILER!
As the story goes, a dark lonely god locked himself up in his castle, swearing that he would never let anyone in. He was angry, and he didn’t like to venture outside of his fortress, but one day, he was forced to. The god attended a ball, where he met a goddess of fire who wanted to save her furry friends. She was pure-hearted, but he thought she was deceiving him like everyone else. When his thunderous moods caused a hundred storms that shook the cart, somehow, the goddess survived them all. And when he saw that she was indestructible in the face of his thunder, the clouds began to clear, and the sun began to shine on the land that had been cast in darkness for so long. The god immediately fell in love with the goddess, and they created two perfect boys in their likeness. Their names, coincidentally, were Atlas and Frey.
A. Zavarelli kept the classic aspects of a traditional Cinderella story but made this story her own. I’d not argue that Stealing Cinderella was a literary masterpiece but definitely an entertaining fast read. Check it out!
