SYNOPSIS

Remington Stringer has never been like most girls. She’s outspoken, brazen and wants nothing more than to escape the Nevadan hell hole that she calls home.

On the brink of eighteen, with a deceased mother and a well-meaning, yet absent father, she is forced to fend for herself. The only person she’s ever had to depend on is her borderline obsessive stepbrother, Ryan. But, what used to be her anchor is quickly becoming a loose cannon.

When Remi gets the opportunity to attend the best private school in the state during her senior year of high school, she jumps at the chance. Then she meets Mr. James. Ornery, aloof, and totally irresistible. Most girls would swoon in secrecy. Most girls would doodle his name with hearts in their notebook. But Remi Stringer has never been like most girls.

BOOK REVIEW

Charleigh Rose wrote a fantastically paced forbidden romance between a teacher and his student, supported by a messy but still great and engaging plotline, as well as interesting side characters.

“There is no right or wrong in this world. No black and white. Remington and I live in the gray area. Logic is pointless. Gut feeling is dangerous. The only way to know whether you did the right or wrong thing is to ride it out and see it to the end.”

Remington Stringer grew up in less than desirable conditions, to put it mildly, a seedy bad neighborhood, an absent father, and a handsy step-brother on the edge of unhealthy obsession/psychosis. Finally given a chance at a good future, she jumped at an opportunity to study in a top-notch private prep school but found herself immediately captivated by her mysterious, swoon-worthy sexy, and totally off-limits teacher, Pierce James.

It was an instant attraction, and when it became oh not so innocent, Remi faced a choice to either sacrifice her future for a taboo relationship that could easily be her most painful downfall or ignore these deep-rooted feelings and focus on her life goals.

“The electricity. The attraction. The lust. I can’t be the only one who feels it. It feels too big to be one-sided.”

I guess, the dilemma was laughable from the very beginning, since the attraction was progressively harder and harder to ignore. Their playful banter was sweet and sexy at the same time. The chemistry between the two was dangerously explosive. They were aware of the fact that their relationship was so wrong, but how could it be wrong when it felt so so good, so right?

Aside from the love aspect of the story, Misbehaved had a dark side to it. The book touched upon some very serious topics, such as heavy substance abuse, as well as toxic relationships and parental neglect. I don’t want to spoil here, so you need to read and find out yourself how the main characters dealt with the problems.

Overall, Misbehaved was an entertaining read, and I’m definitely very excited to read more from Charleigh Rose!
